Faded Glory – Boys’ Alec Sports Sandals (Sizes 12-4)

School is out and camp doesn’t begin til Monday. So, with a week off, we headed east to very hot Palm Springs for a few days. It was so nice to have nothing to do but veg by the pool, eat, relax and watch the food channel. We all love to watch it together.

During the day in Palm Springs it reached 113 degress.  It was too hot to be out in the early afternoon so we looked for indoor activites. Besides seeing Judy Moody, which just made me moody, we drove by a Walmart supercenter. Chacha ching! Dr. ShoeMom needs shoes to write about and my family needs a place with good AC.

Oh my, I was a kid in a candy store. I wanted to buy everything. Organic tank tops for $3.99, awesome sunglasses for $5.00, wines, cheeses, crackers, fabrics, home décor and there is even a beauty salon. I was losing my mind. We spent a couple hours there and I felt that I could have spent a couple of days.  Walmart, please consider building a adjoining hotel.

Okay, back to kids’ shoes and these are the ones. I think these boy sandals are great looking and comfortable for your son this summer. I love the army print because it’s neutral and matches almost everything. It’s a great shoe to wear to the beach and camp.

Sanuk Kids I’m Game (Sizes 10-6)

My husband lives in these shoes (not the zebra pattern, thank goodness) and he only cares about comfort (I try to help him in the style department but sometimes it just seems like a lost cause). I just found out they are making these in kid sizes and I am super excited. My daughter’s friend was wearing them in pink and informed me that she loves them and can wear them all day. Sanuks are the perfect summer camp shoe. Cute, stylish, cool, closed toe and comfy. I really want a pair too – they are sitting in my zappos shopping cart as I am writing this…

These loafer shoes are made out of canvas upper with frayed cotton detailing. It has a synthetic outsole that is light weight.  It closes with a hook and loop on the side of the shoe.

Contramao Kids 185-1630 (Sizes 10-7)

I love this sandal and I especially love that they are made in Brazil. I also manufacture our Planet Flops in Brazil.  The quality really does show in this shoe. I showed them to my older daughter and her eyes nearly popped out of her head she loved them so much. I think even Suri (Katie and Tom Cruise’s daughter) and Danielle (my younger daughter’s 4 year old bff) would give up their heels for these. Please, for Dr. ShoeMom, give up the heels til you are 20. Thanks.

This shoe upper is made out of leather with a decorative bow on the side. There is a side zipper to put on and off easily. The sole is made out of rubber and is flexible.

Deborah Sandal Natural Leather (Sizes 6-11)

I know, I know,I have to stop writing about kork-ease but I really just love them. They are too cute and comfy. I love all the styles and really fell head over heels (no pun intended) for these.  Althought they have a heel, they are still comfortable and I know with all the bell bottom jeans that have made a come back (bye, bye skinny jeans, hurray!) you will need a few pairs of wedges/heels. They are sold out in the popular sizes on most shoe websites but I did find them at jildor, so hurry before they are gone.

This shoe is made out of leather with an adjustable buckle closure. It is lined with leather and is cushioned for added comfort. The outsole is made out of rubber.

Toddler Cars Light-Up Runner (Sizes 5-10)

  

I really do try and stay away but Payless really does it so right and affordable that I find myself there searching for cute comfy shoes. This time I found this cute Cars theme light up sneaker and just in time for the premiere of Cars 2.  My girls loved the first one and we are counting down the days for the sequel. I know kids just love shoes that light up.

This shoe is made out of man made materials. It has a cushiony collar, tongue and insole for added comfort. There is a nonmarking skid resistant outsole and the bottom lights up with every step.

Nike Kids Glide 2 (Sizes 10.5-12.5)

This is a great looking sneaker for girls and a great price for Nike. I love dark colored sneakers since it hides the dirt that kids tend to accumulate on their sneakers.  I also lately am going through a sneaker phase where I literally want to wear them all the time to every occasion.   The other day, even my husband, who is probably the most casual understated dressed man in town, was like “honey it’s Saturday night, you may want to wear dressier shoes.”  So this week, I was on a quest to find cool sneaks for kids.

This sneaker has a breathable mesh upper with two way stretch for ventillation and comfort. It has a lace up closure and the bottom is made out of rubber.

Nike Kids Airmax Command (Sizes 3.5-7)

Yes, another sneaker by Nike. I just gotta have ‘em and I am not the only one. Last Friday evening, we were driving back home from a family picnic at the park organized by my girls’ school and we drove by the Nike store on Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills.  There was a huge line outside, so we stopped to ask what was going on.  They were literally camping out for the latest Jordans that were scheduled to go on sale at midnight!  Clearly there are some who are even more commited than I am to finding the most stylish and comfortable shoes.

This is a great looking retro style shoe made out of leather upper and mesh underlay. It closes with laces and has a durable rubber outsole.

 Kork-Ease Myrna Vacchetta (Sizes 5-11)

 

This past Friday, as I was picking up my daughter from school, I saw my bestie, Delilah, and greet her in my usual manner. I suddenly notice her new shoes and gasped that they were Kork-Ease – the amazing comfortable iconic sandals from the 70s.  Kork-Ease is now a part of Delilah’s fabulous shoe collection!!  I started daydreaming thinking of these Kork-Ease sitting in her closet thinking to themselves: “I finally made it!  I am in the great company of chanel, christian dior, gucci, christian louboutin, givenchy and so many other high end shoe brands.”  Kork-Ease, Dr Shoemom is so proud of you. Congratulations!

These sandals are made out of vacchetta leather with a suede covered platform. It closes with buckles. There is a padded footbed for added comfort.
